"A town created through everyone's windows"
Ichihara Lakeside Art Museum
2025.11.29

Content
We conducted fieldwork outside the museum, observing the surrounding landscape and monuments. Using the provided "observation cards," we rediscovered the environment through our five senses, such as color, shape, and sound, and then created "Views from the Window" in the multipurpose room.
The completed artwork was displayed in the museum's atrium space as a window in a house during the exhibition period, forming part of a colorful "town."
concept
The project goes beyond simply creating paintings, emphasizing a process of physically re-examining the environment surrounding the museum. By verbalizing and becoming aware of sensory information such as sound and atmosphere, in addition to visual information (color and shape), it creates an opportunity to proactively reinterpret the landscape.
This project attempts to demonstrate the close connection between the community, the environment, and the individual by returning the children's multifaceted observations to public spaces as "windows into the town."
By using observation checklists and carefully recording "colors found," "shapes discovered," and "sounds heard," participants will enhance their ability to perceive everyday scenes that they might otherwise overlook. They will also learn a creative process of condensing the physical stimuli gained through fieldwork into the framework of a "window," transforming their own discoveries into expressions that can be shared with others.
