-Beyond the Words We Grasp-
2019.3.6-3.17
Daikanyama Hillside Forum

In this exhibition, Iku Harada sought to visualize the memories and structures embedded within objects, drawing from the virtual world “inner space” constructed within her computer. Her practice of translating three-dimensionally designed virtual landscapes into painting does not aim at mere image reproduction, but rather at transferring structures and relationships into material form.
Responding to the spatial context of Daikanyama Forum, she presented “mono-gatari” (object-narrativity) through the distances and displacements arising between the virtual and the real. In doing so, she addressed the exhibition’s central theme—the material voice beyond language—through a structure of circulation between the virtual and the physical.
