Tokyo Metropolitan Komazawa Olympic Memorial Park
TOKYO CITY CANVAS

2024

I participated in the "TOKYO CITY CANVAS" project, implemented by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government at Komazawa Olympic Park. This project utilizes temporary construction fences to develop art within urban spaces.
In conjunction with the renovation work on the Komazawa Olympic Park General Sports Ground Gymnasium, the artwork "Symbiotic Landscape," spanning approximately 90 meters in width, was displayed from April 28, 2024, to the end of January 2025.In this work, I attempted to reconstruct the landscape by intersecting the rich natural environment of the park with a digital perspective.
Furthermore, in relation to the venue's planned use for the 2025 Deaflympics, I incorporated motifs (color trees) that evoke people and groups, creating a composition that suggests the overlapping of diverse presences in public spaces.

[Artist Comment]

The artwork incorporates tree-shaped objects that symbolically represent people and groups.

The colors chosen to build anticipation for the Tokyo 2025 Deaflympics are based on the vibrant theme colors of red, blue, yellow, and green. These colors symbolize diversity and represent a society where people from diverse backgrounds grow together. We hope this will become a place that embraces diversity and evolves, harmonizing with the nature of Komazawa Olympic Park, and becoming a beloved spot for visitors even while the gymnasium is under repair.

As a citizen, I am pleased that art is spreading into public spaces, not only because it gives us artists a place to work, but also because it means that art is becoming more integrated into our daily lives.

I look forward to seeing how "TOKYO CITY CANVAS," which spreads art throughout the city, will develop in the future.
