Ome Municipal General Medical Center
Artwork: 'Utopia: OME Serenity'

In collaboration with Art Coco Co., Ltd., artwork was installed in the new building of the Ome Municipal General Medical Center.
This project was completed after approximately two and a half years of consideration and coordination. We were responsible for the murals displayed in the promenade (1st to 3rd floors) of the new building's connecting corridor. Within the all-glass architectural space, the composition creates a continuous rhythm throughout the space, responding to natural light. After completion, the entire work will be visible from the outside (parking lot side).
The art concept for this facility is "The Rich Light Woven by Ome." Based on the natural elements of the region, such as greenery, sky, and earth, the works on each floor unfold in a varied manner.
In this work, a virtual space, "inner space," serves as the foundation, constructing a landscape called "NEO Ome" as another layer overlapping with the real landscape. It functions as a landscape generated within the viewer's perception, situated between reality and virtuality.

Connecting corridor

"Utopia: OME Serenity" by Iku Harada

Following the three floor themes of Ome's land, Ome's greenery, and Ome's sky, we have selected spots in Ome that are rich in nature.

The artist develops a fictional utopian concept from their own unique perspective, and then captures and depicts the landscapes they see within that vision.

It has a unique quality that makes you feel like you're moving back and forth between virtual and reality, resulting in a truly original space.

Emphasis was also placed on the building's appearance from the outside, with soft-colored bands creating a gentle light that is pleasing to passersby at dusk and at night.

We aimed to create an atmosphere that instilled a sense of security and warmth.
